HOW ARE WE GOING TO ACHIEVE THIS?

KEY CHALLENGES

  • Low enrollment due to high school fees

  • Poor literacy rates due to the lack of quality education

  • Shortage of qualified teachers due to the lack of proper funding for training

Haitian parents spend over 15% of their meager income on private school education because public education lacks national funding and often mirrors deplorable living conditions. Most private schools require parents to pay for transport, books, and mandatory uniforms in addition to hefty tuition fees. Those who can not afford these options are left to not attend school or receive a meager education at public schools, who don’t have the proper materials needed to provide quality learning.

HOW WE OVERCOME THEM

By providing children with the pencils, notebooks, and textbooks required to succeed, we can help bring quality education back to these public schools and provide a free alternative to learning basic literary skills. Project Espwa reaches out to schools on an individual basis to address to acquire school supplies lists specific to their needs. By providing all back to school materials for these children, we take away the stress many families face in deciding between feeding their kids or sending them to get an education.
